China-based Chery Automobile Company has entered into a collaboration with Uruguay-based Bognor for the manufacture of bulletproof sedans, forming part of the company's strategy to expand into international markets.
In a statement released by Chery, the auto maker said that it will own a 70% share in the venture, with Bognor owning the remaining 30%. The bulletproof version of Chery's Eastar, known as the Son of the Orient is to be sold internationally.
Chery also revealed that it is to deliver the first of its models produced in partnership with DaimlerChrysler. The "Chery A1" model, a more recent version of the company's Chery QQ model, will be presented on April 21-28 at the Shanghai Auto Show.
